I believe the most important role a tutor plays is to establish a friendly relationship with the student. This makes learning more engaging and achievable. My previous tutoring experience has shown me that students learn best when they are engaged more personally. For example, relating concepts to the hobbies of a student allows them to perceive…

One of the most important things a tutor can do in my opinion is understand how a student thinks and foster a sense of encouragement regarding that thinking pattern. Personally in my experience I have found that this is very helpful and just overall a nice quality to have in a teacher/tutor. I believe my strengths as a tutor come from the fact I…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to be friendly and make sure they feel welcome. It's also important to make sure the student is understanding the content and if they aren't to reiterate the points or try to teach them in another way. My strengths as a tutor are that I am highly organised and prepared, I am very…

Local Reviews

Ali is an exceptional math tutor who helped me not just improve performance at school, but also gain confidence in my abilities. He has helped me develop and maintain a conceptual understanding of all content in the standard math year 11 course, aswell as legal, business and economics. Additionally, he has helped my little sister in year 6 jump ahead with a well prepared plan. He placed priority on not only the education, but also the mental state and confidence of his students. Through his tutoring plans and extra curricular concepts and worksheets he has helped me and my little sister significantly and i highly recommend giving him a shot!

Inside LindenTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Emily focused on reading fluency and practiced counting activities using a workbook.

Year 9 student Liam worked through algebraic expressions, including multiplying and dividing terms, and completed exercises on adding and subtracting algebraic terms for homework review.

For Year 11, Sarah tackled financial mathematics topics such as calculating tax, Medicare levy, and taxable income by working through exam-style worksheets in preparation for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student's lesson notes revealed set homework was left incomplete—especially after covering bearings and area, which meant missed chances to reinforce new skills.

In Year 8 mathematics, messy written work led to confusion: "Organised book with more writing is preferred," noted the tutor, highlighting how disorganisation masked mistakes in geometry questions.

For a Year 10 student, fatigue late in the week resulted in lapses of focus and motivation; as observed during algebra revision, errors crept in when attention drifted. This left them doubting correct answers and hesitating to attempt more challenging problems.

Recent Achievements

A Linden tutor recently noticed Tariq starting to take more initiative—he's now asking clarifying questions about Pythagoras' Theorem and tackling basic algebra with much less prompting than before.

Another high schooler, Isabelle, who initially hesitated over volume calculations, was able to work through problems on cylinders and triangular prisms independently after just a few sessions.

Meanwhile, Lillian in primary school moved from needing frequent reminders during spelling practice to completing her weekly list on her own and even sharing her science project ideas enthusiastically without waiting for encouragement.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Blue Mountains Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Blue Mountains Steiner School.
