The most important thing a tutor can do is encourage a positive culture of wanting to learn and evoking a love of education. This allows students to go beyond the classroom and achieve their best. My strengths would be that I was once one of those petty children who hated my teachers and thought being cool meant not doing my homework, getting…

The most important thing a tutor could do for a student is to understand how that student thinks and how they interpret ideas. Doing this is fundamental in allowing the student to interpret ideas more efficiently. I think my strengths as a tutor is my ability to explain ideas to different people and simplify complex ideas. Furthermore I can adjust…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make learning entertaining and memorable. One important thing a tutor can do is clearly understand what a student wants with their tutor. For example, if a student already know concepts really well, a tutor should be able to identify this and spend more time on areas where a student may struggle. Furthermore, it is important to consider the student first and foremost. A tutor should be…

I think that most students aren't too interested in most subjects. So for a tutor, it is basically a must that they can make their lesson at least somewhat engaging for their students (since they are having time taken out of their life just to study more, there's a high likelihood that they're even more disinterested). The next most important…

Tutoring in my opinion is not only putting pen to paper. I believe as a tutor it is vital to offer the students a level of support that encourages them to want to progress in their education, it is important to understand the individual you are tutoring as not only will it make them feel seen it will also massively improve their learning…

Ezy Math's tutoring has communicated with my agency regarding how the child is going and providing monthly reports, which is so helpful as a caseworker. Thus far, the family are happy and the child is doing better! So happy with Ezy math tutoring from inquiry to setting things in motion.

Inside LiverpoolTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Putty worked on foundational maths skills, including fractions and tackling comprehension through NAPLAN-style English questions.

Year 8 student Ali focused on adding and subtracting negative numbers, simplifying like terms with coefficients, and practicing exponents.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Jordan revised annuities in financial maths by calculating future values with different compounding intervals, and reviewed investments in preparation for an upcoming exam.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 maths, missed homework and last-minute lesson rescheduling ("Jordan cancelled the lesson last minute") left gaps in practice with annuities and compounding, making it hard to apply formulas under time pressure.

For a Year 7 student, not memorising times tables meant LCM and HCF questions stalled out—"still needs to memorise 12 times tables"—and layout was messy when trying harder problems.

In Year 4 English, difficulty breaking down comprehension passages led to confusion; as one tutor noted, "gets lost in the passage, doesn't pause to think without being told." These moments caused frustration and lost confidence during sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Liverpool tutor noticed a Year 9 student who previously hesitated to ask questions now regularly speaks up when unsure, leading to quicker problem-solving in algebra lessons.

A Year 12 student recently showed new independence by identifying errors from a past exam on her own and then applying the correct formula without prompting—something she'd struggled with before.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 4 surprised their tutor by retelling stories they read in detail and using annotation strategies confidently, after having difficulty summarising text just weeks earlier. This student chose their own book and explained its plot clearly last session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Liverpool City Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Liverpool Public School.
