The most import things that a tutor can do for a student are : # I can be a good listener , as sometimes its hard to explain again and again. # A tutor should make a good bond with the student so he can ask any doubt. # Instead looking at the strengths of a student , tutor should look for the weaknesses and should start preparing the student…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen to them. Listening to them and understanding their point of view when something seems difficult for them, even when it isn't really from my perspective. Then combatting this problem by exploring different ways to present a difficult concept. I do this using analogies and using simple…

One of the most important factors would be to never give up on your students, where it is your obligation as a tutor to try and understand the student's mentality and mindset and accommodate the teaching style to ensure the student understands the content rather than endorsing mindless memorization. I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student are: boost a student's self-confidence, and create a space where they are not afraid to make a mistake. It is more than the information provided; it is how they learn to trust and enjoy working with an individual who supports a student's confidence and independence over time I think…

Ideally, although admittedly ironic, you want a student to be able to stand on their own two feet and achieve their goals without the need of a tutor at some point. So, although the direct role of a tutor is to teach content, the wider, arguably more profound role of a tutor is to teach lifelong skills, habits, and techniques that students can…

Inside LynwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Lucy focused on revising multiplication and division skills, practising multi-digit problems to build confidence.

For Year 10, David worked through probability concepts including measures of spread, two-way tables, and Venn diagrams in preparation for an upcoming class test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Molly tackled differentiation techniques and their real-world applications in Mathematics Methods, reinforcing her understanding with practice questions from past exams.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student did not regularly review past assessment tasks or consolidate topics like permutations and proofs in Mathematics Specialist, despite heavy subject demands. As one tutor observed, "practice with connecting equations to concepts was limited," which made it harder to link methods efficiently under exam conditions.

In Chemistry (Year 12), there was a pattern of avoiding deeper revision on chemical bonding and acid-base theory; feedback from previous tests wasn't always integrated into new work.

Meanwhile, a primary student often left homework incomplete and avoided subtraction worksheets—missed practice led to more frustration with multi-step problems when they appeared unexpectedly in sessions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Lynwood reported that a Year 11 student who previously needed reminders to check his work now completes chemistry practice problems with almost no help, confidently linking ideas between acid-base reactions and intermolecular forces.

In a recent session, a Year 7 student who once hesitated to attempt harder multiplication questions tackled all the 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication tasks on her own, showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, one younger learner who used to rush through addition is now taking time to double-check answers and has improved accuracy, recently scoring 88% on an addition test.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Riverton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Fountain College - Lynwood Campus.
