To support and encourage them through their schooling and academic journey. Through listening and time, tutors can apply student's strength and their studying method into teaching. I am patient, so when students find a concept difficult to grasp, I will keep trying until they have understood. I will always be willing to listen to student's…

Be there when a student needs them, be able to answer their questions and if not knowing the answer will go to various lengths to find the answer for the student. To take that extra step to help someone's understanding of a concept. I think that my strengths as a tutor are able to understand the student from their point of view and able to teach…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is provide them with a mentally safe and open environment, in which they feel no question or form of validation is undeserving. Students are generally quick learners and tutors must consider this and always teach the correct thing and refrain from making silly mistakes as it may get…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is not only to clearly and effectively teach content but also to share their knowledge and their own personal experiences from the past. This allows students to remain calm, focused and prepared for the hurdles they are yet to overcome. This combined with effective teaching will only…

A very important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them gain the confidence and ability to independently accelerate their own studies. As a math tutor I hope to do that by motivating the mathematical concepts they are currently learning whilst filling in the prerequisite knowledge they need. From this I hope they gain confidence and…

Be there for them in there most trying times and impart comfort and knowledge. Be more of a friend than a professional formality. Teaching resilience and perseverance, and reframing mistakes as opportunities for learning, fosters a positive attitude towards challenges and promotes continuous improvement. I think the important things a tutor can do are to facilitate a student’s true understanding of the subject, instill confidence, and create a comfortable environment for them to ask questions. A good tutor doesn’t just answer questions — they break it down in a way that student can understand at their own level. I also think that just…

A tutor's role is to help cement the knowledge, and help to gain the knowledge that the student will learn during their schooling. In order to do this, they must be able to understand that each student has different requirements in doing so and cater to these requirements. Inside Macquarie FieldsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Rohan worked on distinguishing between line and column graphs for different data types and reviewed electron configuration basics in science.

In Year 10, Ari focused on factorising quadratics and practiced graphing parabolas with exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 3 student Aleigha strengthened her understanding of fractions and symmetry using visual worksheets, and also explored the concept of nouns in English.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, one student avoided asking questions during algebra lessons, leading to repeated confusion with word problems—"hesitant to try new questions," a tutor noted.

In Year 11 Calculus, incomplete homework and skipping revision of differentiation rules left another student unprepared for advanced problems; this gap was clear when foundational algebra skills were needed but missing.

For a Year 6 learner, forgetting to review timetables slowed progress in multi-step maths tasks.

After setbacks on exam-style trigonometry questions in Year 10, one student's confidence dropped and they stopped attempting challenging problems, stalling their improvement mid-lesson.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Macquarie Fields recently noticed a Year 10 student who had previously hesitated to ask questions now actively seeking clarification whenever she felt unsure, especially during algebra lessons.

In another session with a Year 12 student, the tutor observed that after struggling with differentiation using first principles, the student was able to independently complete several practice problems without prompting—a big turnaround from last week's uncertainty.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who found multiplication tricky earlier has started using a chart and now completes times tables quickly and remembers strategies from previous lessons.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Glenquarie Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Macquarie Fields Public School.
