I think the most important thing would be to help a student understand the subject that they are struggling in as well as ignite a passion for the sunject within themselves. I can easily alter my teaching style to fit an individual student's needs. I feel like I am a warm person which means students might find it easier to communicate their…

Overall, being there for a student which can greatly impact their learning, forming a bond that more or less they wouldn’t create with their teachers. Generally, having chemistry with the students is a big factor with how they absorb and understand the information they’re being taught I am quite persistent and would constantly look for ways to…

i believe a tutor has to have a solid understanding of all content to provide the best support to a student, has to be patient, must know a range of way to approach a question, and must be readily available to answer questions through online or in person, and a tutor should be friendly and willing to have fun with the lesson so as it doesn't…

The most important thing a tutor can do is being able to support their student not only in the classroom but also outside. The tutor throughout the week should respond to any questions or problems the student may be having in between their classes. The most important thing a tutor can do for their students in my opinion is to provide a different explanation or approach to a certain aspect of the syllabus, and being able to apply this approach to a certain aspect of the syllabus, with the reinforcement of an abundance of resources from HSC/trial past papers and textbook, which I can provide…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to never give up on them. Such a tutor, whom is demotivating, doesn't care and has a lack of patience will also cause the student to reflect the same behaviour towards the area of difficulty. The student will develop an attitude which lacks motivation, work ethic and form low…

Develop their confidence and independence. A tutor should create a supportive environment in which students feel free to ask questions, assist them with learning problem-solving skills that they can use on their own, and ensuring they actually understand the logic behind subjects rather than just memorising formulas. I believe the most important function of a tutor is to motivate and challenge their students to be the best version of themselves. Though tutors provide academic support, their main priorities should lie in their interpersonal connection with their students. If this connection didn’t exist, students might as well watch a prerecorded video. This…

Just being a support for the student in question. The most important role a tutor can play is showing constant and unconditional support for their student. Inside Middleton GrangeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Tabitha focused on long division for the first time and reviewed strategies for solving fraction-based word problems.

In Year 11, Jay tackled financial mathematics topics such as annuities and revisited trigonometry during exam revision using targeted practice questions.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Sarah concentrated on functions—including absolute values, function notation, and even/odd functions—by working through challenging past paper problems ahead of her upcoming exam.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student's English progress was slowed by relying heavily on the tutor for every task—"she waited for help before starting each question," as noted during reading discussions.

In Year 11, a student only revised essays right before exams, causing last-minute stress and unfinished drafts.

Another senior (Year 12) avoided practicing financial maths because of anxiety about 'hard' topics; this led to gaps that showed up in trials.

For a Year 3 student, messy handwriting made spelling mistakes harder to spot, despite understanding word sounds. These habits resulted in extra time spent correcting avoidable issues instead of moving forward confidently.

Recent Achievements

One Middleton Grange tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 7 student who previously hesitated to ask for help—she now openly voices when she's stuck, making it easier to target her gaps and boosting her engagement with new maths concepts.

In senior English, a high schooler recently took the initiative to create a study document for their prelims and could independently plan essays around key syllabus modules—something they'd struggled with before.

Meanwhile, a primary student who often guessed at answers has started carefully showing all working out and backchecking, catching careless mistakes on her own before moving forward.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Carnes Hill Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Thomas Hassall Anglican College.
