Inside MolongloTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Sami worked through differentiation techniques including the chain, product, and quotient rules, as well as finding stationary points for various functions.

In Year 10, Talia focused on understanding the laws of logarithms and applying them to solve equations involving exponents.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Liam practiced solving linear equations and reviewed how to interpret and graph sine and cosine functions using visual aids.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths, one student's tendency to "panic when a lot of formulae involve in a question" led to skipping key steps, especially with derivatives—misreading symbols or rushing left errors hidden until review.

In Year 9, careless mistakes appeared during quick mental calculations; "failing to read the questions, missing terms" cost marks on exams and reflected time management struggles, as not all questions were attempted.

For Year 12 assessments across Modern History and Sociology, difficulty organizing deadlines and transforming notes into usable study materials meant last-minute stress and incomplete drafts, leaving confidence shaken before major tasks.

Recent Achievements

A Molonglo tutor noticed Sami, a high school student, has started making his own practice questions after sessions—something he hadn't tried before—and now works through tricky parabola problems independently.

In another recent session, Rory (Year 11) sustained focused writing for nearly an hour straight when drafting an English assignment, a big shift from earlier sessions where he'd lose momentum quickly.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student who previously left exam questions blank was able to return and complete those same questions with minimal prompting.

At the end of one lesson, Sami set up his own maths study timetable for the week.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Woden Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Evelyn Scott School.
