I believe the three most important things I could do for a student is academic support, addressing study habits and confronting weaknesses. I believe focusing on these three aspects will do the upmost for the student in the short and long term. I’ve grown up and worked with people from across the socio-economic spectrum, I think I have a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for the student is to believe in them and show encouragement. Self-esteem can be extremely vulnerable during schooling years, and tutors have the power to enhance their students' level of self-confidence and sense of self-efficacy. When I believe in their potential, work with their strengths, support their…

I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient and remember that everyone learns at their own pace, in their own way. Tutors can provide practice papers, positive feedback, ways of improving to the student. The aim is to not make the student feel as if they are unable to achieve the goal, but to allow them to…

We are extremely happy with the services provided by EzyMath Tutoring. Our 14 year old daughter's marks have improved significantly since her tutoring commenced earlier this year. Our daughter looks looks forward to her sessions with her outstanding tutor, Nikki, who is also a good role model for our daughter. We highly recommend the services of EzyMath Tutoring.

Inside Oyster BayTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Grace focused on finding unknown values in equations and translating word problems into number sentences, along with revision of percentages and algebra.

Year 7 student Olivia reviewed her recent maths exam and practiced more advanced algebra problems to prepare for the next year, including work with variables and expressions.

For Year 10, Tia completed targeted revision on quadratic equations and surds, as well as exploring similarity using diagrams to visualise geometric relationships.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10, one student hesitated to write out full working for financial maths, instead relying on mental calculations—this caused confusion when multi-step questions appeared. "She generally knows what she is meant to do but struggles when adding multiple steps together," noted her tutor.

In a Year 7 algebra session, another avoided showing intermediate steps in expansions and rearrangements, which led to sign errors that were hard to trace later.

Meanwhile, during Year 3 measurement revision, incomplete homework meant the student had less exposure to tricky unit conversions, leaving her unprepared for new word problems that week.

Recent Achievements

One Oyster Bay tutoring session saw a Year 9 student, Sophie, shift from hesitating with algebra to confidently expanding brackets and tackling both simple and compound interest problems without prompting.

In another lesson, Abbey (Year 8) moved past confusion around percentages—she now multiplies by fractions independently to find percentage values and applies this in financial maths scenarios.

Meanwhile, a younger student, Violet (Year 4), who previously struggled with basic arithmetic, started solving multiplication and division questions unaided for the first time—choosing her own strategies when faced with worded maths problems.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sylvania Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Oyster Bay Public School.
