The most important thing a tutor can do is make the student passionate about their subject. If the student isn't motivated to learn, no amount of lecturing or assignments will help them. There are so many small things about each subject that are super interesting to learn about, but without the right tutor some students miss out. As a young tutor…

The most important thing a tutor can do is find a way to teach that suits the style of the student in order for their tutoring to be effective. I also think its extremely important to stay consistent and be able to commit to a student to ensure that they can rely on your for support. I think my communication is strong which allows students to be…

To help the students improve in a way that they can feel confident in the subject they are learning by building up their motivation and maximizing their potentials. 1. To be a good tutor, I feel like you need to be personally connected with your students. Each student has their own unique situation whether it be family or academic and as a tutor, you must be able to work with what your students have. After all, I believe that is the role of a tutor; to help students build upon what they have and then help them…

The students already have teachers at school. Rather than being just another teacher figure, a tutor is also a mentor that travels on a journey alongside the student. As such, the most important things they can do for the child is to be compassionate, patient, and support the child with the goals they want to achieve. I am patient, I take the time…

Genuinely understanding the students need and tailoring the best approach of teaching accordingly is the best thing a tutor can do. No students are same and have same level of intelligence and this should be considered by the teacher. As a tutor, my biggest strength is that i genuinely love teaching not just solving problems, but explaining deeply…

Tutors have to be cooperative and empathetic to teach students. Moreover, they need to embody leadership qualities. It is necessary for the students to enjoy learning so that they can have a complete grasp of knowledge about a particular subject. This will allow them to achieve their desired results. The tutor's first job is converting hard 'textbook language' to easy and illustrative concepts. Next is polishing the student's skills with extensive exercises while making sure he has time for other hobbies. It helps if the tutor is aware of things such as fun interactive quizzes or videos that helps makes concepts seem simpler while also keeping…

In my opinion the most important things a tutor can offer a student is confidence and guidance. This is because as a tutor, building a student's confidence can directly impact their attitude towards learning and how well they can achieve the marks they are aiming for. Similarly, by giving guidance to a student, not only prompts them into learning…

Ultimately, a tutor must teach his/her student to be able to rely on themselves and think autonomously when problem solving i.e. not to be afraid of trial and error. I would say my strengths are attributes such as patience with the student (repetition when necessary), determination in getting the message across, and a friendly attitude towards all…

Local Reviews

Communication is great between the company and myself. My only comment is that I don't take enough time to evaluate what is sent to me which of course in my problem. Nathan, the tutor we have for our grandson is fantastic, he has helped him gain a much better understanding of his maths and already his exam results has demonstrated an improvement. Dylan is working towards achieving a high result in his HSC and his year eleven results are looking good.

Inside Padstow HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student James focused on revising algebra and the Pythagoras theorem, reinforcing problem-solving through targeted practice.

For Year 12, Nahyan worked on calculus questions from Sydney Grammar's 2020 Trials paper and reviewed areas of difficulty from her recent exam.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sophia tackled probability concepts with and without replacement, using step-by-step examples to clarify differences between each scenario.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in Physics and Maths was observed not consistently recalling key formulae or algebraic identities from memory, making it harder to tackle exam-style questions under time pressure—"he needs to commit a couple of important formulae/identities to memory."

In senior years, another student switched from challenging trigonometry problems to easier practice, missing exposure to trickier applications.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner left some working unrecorded in BODMAS problems; when errors occurred, there was no written trail to review. This led to repeated corrections during sessions rather than smooth progress into new material.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Padstow Heights recently noticed a big shift with Jacob (Year 12), who previously hesitated on tough calculus but now works through challenging integration and differentiation problems almost independently, even tackling past exam questions without freezing up.

In Year 11, Nahyan started pausing to check her own mistakes rather than waiting for hints—she completed a whole set of trig and integration questions solo and quickly corrected any errors herself.

Meanwhile, one younger student who used to struggle with times tables is now recalling them accurately during lessons, moving on to worded multiplication problems without stopping to count.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Padstow Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Padstow Heights Public School.
