The important thing a tutor can do for a student is providing students confidence in their own abilities, providing comfort and assurance that they have the capabilities to succeed. My strength as a tutor is my ability to relate to the struggles of learning because I once also struggled learning, I can use these past experiences to formulate a…

Enhancing their interests in learning, building up their confidence, and preparing them to tackle the day-to-day homeworks / assginments, then tests and examinations. I believe a tutor's main job is more than just teaching. It's about creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas. A good tutor also gives students individual help and feedback to help them get better. Overall, a tutor helps students feel confident and reach their goals. As a…

Help them to overcome their obstacles by helping them understand what they can't understand. Be a friend to them, not a teacher. Which helps most students to learn more efficiently as I believe. My communications skills are good. And my patience levels are very high so I can work with children very well as well. I also think that math and…

Building a strong self-esteem is the most important thing as no student should feel incapable of achieving high scores or have anxiety towards school. I believe that depth knowledge and a strong understanding of concepts is a great asset of mine as any trick questions can be broken down if you understand the topic well. Another strength is…

First, I think a tutor should have good subject and curriculum knowledge so that they may be able to provide as much information as they can towards the kids. I think communication skills is another important thing a tutor must have (the way they explain the topics so that it is easy for the students to understand). Finally a tutor must be patient…

I would say the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is helping them grow as individuals, and help them find a love for learning - a strong passion for the academic studies. A tutor needs to also serve as a good role model for the students, and be a person the student can trust to help them improve their grades. I would say my…

I believe doubt sessions are very important and the tutor needs to make the student so comfortable that he does not feel judged while asking the doubt. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen to them. Listening to them and understanding their point of view when something seems difficult for them, even when it isn't really from my perspective. Then combatting this problem by exploring different ways to present a difficult concept. I do this using analogies and using simple…

I consider that the most important thing I could do for the student is to create a safe environment for them. That means ensuring that I don't do or say anything that will make them feel they are being judged, as this may hinder their willingness to engage comfortably. I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is helping them achieve the results they want to pave the way for future career pathways. Inside ParkwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student David worked on understanding probability concepts, interpreting measures of spread, and reading two-way tables and Venn diagrams.

For Year 10, Lucy revised algebraic skills including solving linear equations and drawing linear graphs to strengthen her grasp of core algebra topics.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Molly focused on Mathematics Methods by practicing differentiation techniques and exploring their real-world applications using sample problems.

Recent Challenges

Ongoing challenges with homework completion, especially in maths, were evident across several students in both Year 6 and senior secondary levels—"needs to do the home works" recurred in multiple sessions, even after lessons on fractions and multiplication charts.

In a Year 11 Mathematics Methods session, incomplete review of past test papers meant some error patterns persisted into new topics.

One Year 7 student avoided writing out working for surface area problems, making it difficult to spot where confusion began.

"Forgot to convert units" was a stumbling block in geometry tasks; time was lost re-explaining basic conversions rather than deepening problem-solving skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Parkwood noticed a Year 11 student who previously needed step-by-step guidance with Chemistry was able to tackle sample assessment problems on intermolecular forces almost entirely on his own this week.

Another high schooler made a leap in Maths by independently recognising the connection between algebraic and graphical solutions—a skill he'd struggled to link before.

For a younger student, after weeks of guessing silent letters in spelling tasks, she's now pausing to check each word carefully and correct herself before moving on. Last session, she completed her worksheet without needing any reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Riverton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Parkwood Primary School.
