Chemistry Tutor Gosford, NSW
The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to help them figure out how to learn in many different ways, thus setting them up for a lifetime of learning. It is also important for a tutor to encourage their student to improve and to celebrate these improvements. My main strength as a tutor is patience with struggling or…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is giving them confidence that they can learn. This will give them confidence to try and be creative in finding ways to understand any complex topic they need to know. One of my strengths as a tutor is that I am creative in discussing complex topics. I can discuss the same topic in…

While it is important that students are achieving the marks they want, this is only half of the game. As a chemistry tutor, I want to be able to maximise their performance but also teach them the fundamental skills that come along with achieving success. Things like consistency, discipline and a growth mindset aren’t part of any NSW syllabus,…

Chemistry Tutor Booker Bay, NSW
I believe a truly effective tutor can accurately pinpoint the source of a student's struggle with a particular topic, and propose the correct solution. For example, trouble with foundational concepts often stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of the basics, therefore it is important to readdress the theory portion of the topic and provide…

Inside Point ClareTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Yillen worked on applying Pythagoras' Theorem to both right-angled and isosceles triangles, then practiced using graphs to find coordinates for constructing triangles.

For Year 9, Chloe focused on solving trigonometry problems with SOHCAHTOA to find side lengths and unknown angles, and also revised equations for speed, distance, and time in preparation for her test.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Rory concentrated on multiplying fractions by integers and converting between improper fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals using real examples.

Recent Challenges

During recent high school sessions, logging in late and frequent distractions—such as using a phone during lessons—meant less time spent tackling new algebra or geometry questions.

In one Year 9 tutorial, "I had to almost give him 80% of the answers just to keep him engaged."

On another occasion, forgetting essential materials like calculators or notes made it hard to follow through with Pythagoras and Pi-based tasks.

Meanwhile, a primary student aiming to improve spelling rarely submitted written work for feedback, limiting opportunities for targeted support.

Missed homework and forgotten revision notes left gaps before assessments.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Point Clare noticed one high school student who previously hesitated to ask for help now openly requests clarification when stuck and even asked for extra homework to challenge himself, a big shift from staying quiet during sessions.

Another secondary student, after struggling with Pythagoras' Theorem at first, walked out of the lesson confidently able to explain each step on his own.

In Year 5 English, a quieter student surprised her tutor by volunteering examples of figurative language independently, something she hadn't done before. At the end of that session, she asked if they could try harder spelling words next time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kariong Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Point Clare Public School.
