Tutors are there to solidify the concepts that the student has already learned and to ensure that these concepts are understood in the way they work and interact with other aspects of the subject. Being able to apply concepts in the wider aspects of life is also important. I am able to communicate ideas clearly to a student. I also find it easy to…

The most important thing that a tutor can do is to make a comfortable environment for the student, so that they can ask questions and have all their issues addressed. Additionally, trying to anticipate the needs of the student is also quite important, as a tutor should have a through understanding of the weaknesses and strengths of the student, so…

I believe tutors have the power to help a student build curiosity for a subject and let them develop a natural bond with their academic pursuit. Helping students learn whole-heartedly is something tutors can facilitate! I am extremely patient and empathetic with kids. I think the most important thing for a tutor to do for student would be explain the subjects with proper clarity and clear the doubts from students. The classroom should be interactive and there should be effective communication. The tutor should be willing to take feedback from students and take the necessary actions to improve based on it. Good…

Teach and help them learn by listening to what it is that they need help with. Each student is different so developing an individual way with each one is very important as a tutor. Honesty, if something is wrong with something I can tell a student how to fix it straight away. Another strength of mine is teaching someone how to do something rather…

The most important things a tutor can do are ignite curiosity, build confidence, and create a safe space to grow. It’s not just about teaching contents, it’s about showing students they’re capable of more than they think. I had once tutored a student who struggled with English, but with using visuals, humor, and celebrating every small win,…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to identify the weakness of the student so that they can work together to sort things. Another important task is to simplify the materials so that each and every student can learn them in their own pace. The tutor must provide a positive attitude to the students since they improve through their mistakes.…

A tutor should read a student's mind, highlight the area of complexities and make a student believe in him/herself. A tutor should make student understand that nothing is hard and impossible there are always more than one way to attemot anything. The responsibilities of a tutor extend far beyond just teaching their students. We must act as positive role models who encourage personal growth and confidence, making students feel self-assured in their academic performance. No matter what challenges a student encounters, tutors must be an anchor that compels them to get back up and triumph over…

Inside PrimbeeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Cailyn worked on two-step equations, focusing on changing the subject in algebraic expressions and using inverse operations.

Year 11 student Daniel reviewed non-right-angled trigonometry, tackling bearings questions and practicing with obtuse angles.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Nicholas practiced HSC-style network concepts, including identifying critical paths and applying forward/backward scanning to solve scheduling problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student tended to keep her working "contained within her mind," making it difficult to spot where errors in algebra crept in, especially when tackling equations with negatives.

In Year 8, one learner struggled to remember which values to input first on the calculator—"occasionally putting a value before another, resulting in a negative result when it should be positive."

For a Year 5 session, spelling mistakes appeared repeatedly in written work, leading to the creation of targeted lists rather than progress on PEEL paragraphs.

When homework is not regularly checked or retained (as seen in Year 7 algebra), gaps quickly resurface and must be retaught.

Recent Achievements

One Primbee tutor noticed a Year 11 student who used to hesitate with HSC algebra now choosing the right approach independently and completing all assigned questions without prompting.

In Year 8, a student who often doubted her working with pronumerals started expanding terms confidently and showing her steps without asking for reassurance every time.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner who once struggled to remember carrying tens in addition is now marking her work carefully and submitting homework error-free. At the end of her session, she even completed all subtraction problems on her own without needing any hints.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Warrawong District Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Primbee Public School.
