Although it is of course important for a physics tutor to academically support each and every student, I think it is equally if not more important for a tutor to provide emotional support. A tutor must make sure they are empathetic and understanding towards any struggles their students are going through, and be willing to provide additional…

The most important thing for a physics tutor is to be an individual that students can openly and freely talk to other than being able to give knowledge. Allowing students to feel understood helps them overcome thoughts of self doubt which can help further their advancement academically and to help them in their well-being. My strength is…

Be consistent and available in times of need. Most of all, the tutor should be able to make the kids like the subject they are teaching and help them understand what they came to learn. My strengths as a tutor is the ability to understand concepts in various ways so teaching children that may struggle in one aspect I can help in another. Subject…

One most important thing is to foster independent thinking. Alongside motivation and strengthening their weakness, as long as a student gains the potential and maturity to problem solve by themselves, they can achieve limitless opportunities. As a physics tutor, my ultimate goal would be to make the student capable of relying on their own…

It's really important for a physics tutor that their students are comfortable with them and with their teaching. The way tutor is teaching and their knowledge and grip on the subject is very crucial because this impacts a lot on a student's life. I think I can mingle easily with people, I enjoy meeting and talking to new individuals and I think am…

Firstly, a tutor can be a mentor and build a good relationship with the student by making him/her comfortable. Secondly, the tutor should not spoon-feed the student, but rather, scaffold the learning experiences for him/her. This can be only achieved when the tutor provides appropriate feedback to the student by making him/her understand areas of…

The most important criteria for a tutor should be to provide the student with a high quality of knowledge. It is the tutor's duty to effectively help their student without ever giving up on them while being perceptive on how they learn, as everyone learns differently. My strengths are that I persevere for my students and I'll be able to relate to…

Jake has had 2 sessions and already he feels a bit more confident. He is not very confident around new people and usually takes a while to open up, but he seems to have hit it off with Kisanet so that's great. We are very happy and looking forward to the next couple of months.

Inside QuandongTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Lachlan worked on poetry analysis by identifying techniques such as metaphor and personification, then practiced writing his own free-verse poem; in a separate session, he strengthened geometry skills with targeted textbook exercises.

Year 10 student Aiden focused on trigonometric functions and practiced applying the chain rule for differentiation using VCAA exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Zoe tackled problems involving matrix addition, subtraction, multiplication, and finding inverse matrices to deepen her understanding of advanced algebra topics.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths Methods, a student's notes lacked dates and clear working—"Pen & Paper needs work, particularly neatness and clarity"—which made it harder to trace errors in calculus and graphing tasks.

In Year 9 English, one learner hesitated to annotate poetic techniques or integrate quotes smoothly; as observed, "he needed support to identify figurative language," slowing his progress in analysis.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 maths student repeatedly lost focus during multiplication drills, needing reminders to stay on task. When written answers were rushed or messy, extra time was spent untangling calculations instead of building new skills.

Recent Achievements

A Quandong tutor recently saw real progress with a Year 11 student who, after previously hesitating to ask questions, began proactively seeking clarification during sessions on the unit circle and product rule—he now voices what he doesn't understand rather than staying silent.

In Year 8 maths, Braith had struggled to solve algebraic equations efficiently; now he completes one-variable equations in fewer steps and even does much of the calculation mentally.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who was once reluctant to read aloud managed to finish an entire chapter out loud and then volunteered to tackle new spelling tasks without prompting.
