I think it is extremely important for a student to feel comfortable in the presence of their tutor, allowing them to express where they are struggling, resulting in an appropriate environment for both teaching and learning. When this relationship is formed, a tutor is able to fully understand the areas of difficulty for the student and are…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to help students adopt the habit of independent learning which would enable them to continue seeking knowledge and practice lifelong learning even when no one is forcing them to study or when there is no one guiding their academic path in the future. I believe that I am good at communicating with…

A tutor can be sure that the student has grasped a concept and that they actually understand and in the future can approach what you have taught them, without the need of any assistance. My strengths: - I am commited and focused to the job I am set to do. - I am patient with people. - can easily approach and talk to people and make people feel…

A tutors role is to provide so much to the student whether it be knowledge itself or confidence in learning. However, I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to create a sense of curiosity for them. It is clear that people learn better when they have the desire to, so making the content interesting and applicable…

To my point of view, there are two most important thing that a tutor needs to do for a student. The first one is knowledge, because it it more useful if the tutor explains the problems and give only suggestions, directions to the student rather than just simply provide the student with the answer. That question will not appear exactly the same in…

I believe that a tutor should support the student and offer a number of different viewpoints and learning techniques suited to the individual. I also believe that a tutor should be patient, as learning takes time and should foster a fun and comfortable learning environment as well as motivating the student. I believe I posses a number of strengths…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build confidence, create a supportive environment, and help students learn how to learn. I want my students to know that the power of learning is ultimately in their hands. While I am here to guide and help them learn, one of the questions I hear often and ask myself is "How do I learn…

I think the best thing a tutor can do is provide a safe and supportive environment for students. It is important that students do not feel judged and are encouraged to ask questions and highlight the areas that they need to improve. The only way anyone can learn is by making those mistakes and trying it one way and trying again and again. Tutor's…

Being patient and flexible are the most important things a tutor can do for a student. As each student is here to learn, I believe that a tutor should not show annoyance when tutoring a student especially if there are certain concepts that need to be repeated or re-taught. Also, since each student has a different learning style, it is important…

The most important things a tutor can offer are ASSISTANCE and GROWTH. It is not only about academic improvements, but also about suggestions, mentoring and counselling. Patience is one of the most vital personalities that a tutor must have. No matter how smart or how good he teaches, without patience, no any student are willing to listen, no to mention understanding the concept. I did struggle a bit back in the days. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help him develop a good relationship with the subject. Help him develop a method that he can apply to any topic and get through it. Inside RoseberyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Abby focused on measurement, practising area of circles and surface area of solids through school-aligned worksheets.

For Year 10, Sunny worked on graphing functions and was introduced to trigonometry, including proving problems with algebraic exercises.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Nathan revised quadratic equations using the discriminant (delta method) and tackled transformation of parabolas by finding intersections between parabolas and lines.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, a student sometimes avoided showing working for absolute value problems with multiple absolute signs; as one tutor noted, "she needed help organizing her steps in proving exercises to avoid confusion and hidden errors."

Meanwhile, a Year 9 English learner struggled to expand ideas clearly in creative writing—rushed sentence structure left her responses feeling disjointed under timed conditions.

In Year 7 Maths, careless sample space identification affected conditional probability questions: "sometimes got the sample space wrong," observed the tutor, leading to incorrect answers on card deck tasks. After setbacks, visible frustration lingered during practice sessions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Rosebery noticed Sunny, a high school student, now sketches function graphs independently—last term she needed constant prompting for each step.

Another Year 10 student, Ismail, has started completing short algebra quizzes within the set time and gets most answers correct; previously he would leave questions unfinished or need hints to continue.

In a recent session with a younger student, their approach to fractions changed: instead of guessing, they worked through improper-to-mixed conversions out loud and checked their own steps before moving on. The session finished with them tackling harder fraction problems without hesitation.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mascot Library (incl. the George Hanna Memorial Museum)—or at your child's school (with permission), like Gardeners Road Public School.
