Inside Rush CreekTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Summer worked through questions on addition and subtraction using number lines, as well as reading analogue clocks and counting money.

In Year 8, Rebecca focused on simplifying algebraic terms and finding rates by completing unfinished homework and correcting previous errors.

For Year 10, Joshua practiced applying the sine and cosine rules in trigonometry and reviewed how to transpose equations for upcoming classwork, using a mix of sample exam questions and targeted textbook problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student often relied on verbal hints rather than independent note-taking, especially in Maths, making it difficult to apply concepts without support. As a tutor noted, "he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors."

In Year 8 revision, another student struggled to recall formulas and left notes scattered across several books—this made it hard to review before tests.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student tended to jump straight to answers with money and time questions without talking through her process; this led to repeated misunderstandings and frustration when facing unfamiliar problems.

Recent Achievements

Joshua began asking questions about tricky steps in equations instead of hesitating—something he rarely did before.

Rebecca has started admitting when she's unsure about an answer and now asks for clarification, which helps her pick up new topics like frequency tables faster.

Meanwhile, Summer in primary school has moved from needing lots of hints to solving money problems on her own and even rated herself higher this week compared to last.

Last session, she completed subtraction exercises independently without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Burpengary Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Dayboro State School.
