We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that...

It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

For this month, we will be preparing ourselves for week 9 exam which includes algebra, trigonometry and Pythagoras theorem. First week was just working on linear equations and how to solve them from easy to tough and tougher questions
Catherine always has a positive attitude towards work and lessons. Catherine has lately been making a good effort to attempt difficult questions, even if she finds them daunting at first. Please encourage her to always try all questions and give it her best effort! Catherine generally completes all homework on time, but I would like to see more neatness in her answers and working out, as often we have problems locating her working out at the beginning of the lesson.
After having him for a while, I am able to see he has quite a few gaps is his maths knowledge. Mainly gaps from both year 7 and year 8 maths. Currently i'm am trying to catch him up with these gaps, while at the same time is helping him with year 9 work. He is struggling with his current school maths work because he is has gaps in his knowledge from year 8 and year 7.

Jonathan is extremely happy with Jessica and how she has supported him in the three sessions they have already had together. His words following their initial session were, 'I wish she was my Maths teacher at school. She explains things so well.' I was very pleased that Jonathan felt this comfortable with Jessica. The issue of school holidays came up and I asked if sessions stop or continue during this time and Jessica said it was up to Jonathan and I. I asked Jonathan what he would like to do and he actually said he would like to continue the sessions during the holidays. I was surprised and very grateful that Jonathan feels this way, so we will continue through the holidays.
