Teaching the content and helping them fully grasp it, rather than doing it for them. I find that a lot of subjects have a particular rhythm to them; although some require rote learning (like particular concepts, especially within math), there are always patterns that can be identified so that students achieve their very best. For example: Stage 2…

Inside Salisbury ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Alex focused on converting between units of length and solving area word problems involving rectangles.

Year 10 student Priya revised trigonometry—especially sine and cosine rules—and worked through polynomials, including finding roots using practice questions.

For Year 12 Lucy, lessons included writing a procedure for identifying organic compounds in Chemistry, along with tackling statistics topics such as normal distributions and confidence intervals using exam-style problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student did not bring graph paper, limiting their ability to complete required graphing questions in Mathematics; as a tutor noted, "without graph paper we had limited capacity to cover those questions."

In Year 12 Chemistry, missing class due to illness meant essential lab results and procedures were unavailable for the report—these gaps made it difficult to progress with assignments.

A Year 9 student struggled with interpreting worded problems in Maths and sometimes hesitated when choosing which formula or rule applied. These process issues led to confusion during practice and incomplete homework tasks that slowed down later lessons.

Recent Achievements

A Salisbury Park tutoring session saw a Year 12 student, Lucy, independently choosing the correct differentiation rules and making almost no errors—previously, she hesitated with these applications.

Meanwhile, Dillan in Year 11 has started tackling unfamiliar regression topics ahead of his class; he not only understood residuals quickly but matched plots and drew accurate inferences on his own.

For a younger student in primary school, drawing diagrams became a new tool for solving complex area questions—a big step from relying solely on formulas before.

Lucy ended her lesson by confidently identifying which chemical tests suited different compounds without needing any prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Salisbury Community Hub Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Salisbury Park Primary School.
