I believe a tutor can impact student's lives by providing the foundation he needs for further studies. A student with a poor concept might some how pass but he will struggle in the future, or looses interest in that subject. Hence a tutor can strengthen that foundation, at the same time be a source of motivation and a be a big brother. My main…

Inside South GranvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Favour reviewed mistakes from the 2020 Western Past Paper and tackled several questions from the 2019 paper, focusing on clarifying tricky concepts.

Year 12 student went through HSC depreciation questions and selected problems from the WME Trial 2023, addressing practical finance calculations.

Another Year 12 student worked on trigonometry with right-angled triangles and bearings, using textbook exercises to build confidence in applying these skills to exam-style scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 English, one student's essays showed frequent repetition and unclear connections between ideas—"he needs to use a greater variety of connectives in his writing"—making responses harder to follow under timed conditions.

In Year 10 Mathematics, a student often left out units in answers and sometimes forgot essential materials for lessons; as noted, "homework and materials should be brought to every lesson."

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner hesitated to attempt more difficult fraction problems, sticking with familiar examples instead of challenging herself. This led to slower improvement on test-style questions requiring deeper understanding.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in South Granville recently noticed a Year 12 student who, after previously missing marks for unclear essay structure, took feedback on board and began rewriting his thesis statements more thoughtfully, even re-reading completed essays for better analysis.

In another session, a high schooler prepping for the HSC started working with friends outside of lessons to prepare quotes and themes—showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, a younger student who once hesitated to ask questions now actively seeks help whenever she's unsure about maths problems, instead of guessing or skipping them.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Auburn Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Blaxcell Street Public School.
