Provide a safe environment for them to question things. To teach students how to ask the right questions. Efficient questioning. To spark curiosity and interest, that they my also push themselves out of their own desire to learn more. And in doing all of this, will in turn build their self confidence. I can teach things clearly and simply. As…

As a tutor I feel it is crucial to cater to your students needs so they can excel. Guidance. It's always guidance. Tutors facilitate learning and help activates students' potential. :) Tutors receive all the questions most of the students don't ask in class, and I find it amazing because real learning happens between tutors and students. I already know how to handle them and I can give excellent activities that they can enjoy…

I think a tutor's only job is to motivate their students and let them develop their own interests in the subject.  I think once you motivate them and make them think about the subject on their own, your job is done.  From then on, it's a matter of aiding their intellectual journey.  And I think what enables tutors to fulfil that job is using…

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student is teach a student how to be conscientious in their work, how to learn effectively and efficiently, and problem solve for themselves. These traits are important life skills that can be gained through education/schooling that they will inevitably have to apply in their maturation into…

For me, the most important thing a tutor can do is help a student build confidence in themselves. Once they feel supported and encouraged, they are much more open to learning. A tutor should also guide students toward becoming independent learners by showing them strategies for problem solving and critical thinking, so they feel prepared to face…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to ensure that learners would feel safe and secured when they are being attended to. Aside from that, a tutor should also consider the transfer of knowledge where tutors act as facilitators for the students learning. Its often overlooked how important it is to develop problem-solving habit for distinct type of questions apart from understanding the concept alone. For a student attending math tuition, the main purpose is to improve both their understanding and problem-solving skills. The latter skill is only perfected by thorough practice of different types of…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student, is to show the easiest method to learn the content of the subject. A tutor can teach the way to decode the subject matter. Once, the tutor teach the method to learn and the student understand that method, a student should become independent to learn similar topics. I think a tutor…

Tutor should be able to understand the students' mindset as well as the subject knowledge student has before starting the tutorial. Try to make things simple so that students can grasp easily. By my little experience, i think that tutoring is not only directing the children to a specific point but opening their mind to a broader level by keeping into mind the child's interests. Inside SunshineTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 Vincent focused on area, volume, percentages, ratios, and mixed numbers in maths homework review, while also practising reading comprehension and grammar in English.

For Year 10 Arshdeep, the lesson addressed motion on an inclined plane by breaking down gravity into components and calculating net force, as well as exploring the role of tension and drag forces using diagrams.

In Year 12 Chemistry with Ruby, revision included balancing ionic equations, identifying functional groups such as alkanes and alkenes, and applying mole calculations to empirical and molecular formulae.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student arrived for Chemistry without their class notes or materials, which made it harder to address gaps in ionic equations and electron configuration—he had significant gaps that will require further study.

In Year 8 Maths, one learner's workbook was disorganised and missing homework, so practice with fractions and column addition could not be checked.

A VCE student tackling comparative essays sometimes avoided using feedback on structure, leading to repeated confusion over evidence selection.

During a senior Methods session, rushing through complex number problems led to overlooked details; time was lost fixing these instead of moving ahead.

Recent Achievements

One Sunshine tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 11 physics student who, after weeks of staying quiet, finally started asking for help with concepts like time dilation—he now explains his reasoning out loud instead of guessing.

Another high school student working on comparative essays initially struggled to plan ideas but recently began mapping out argument structures independently, which is new for her.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who used to avoid reading tasks volunteered to read the next chapter aloud during their session and tackled unfamiliar words by sounding them out without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brimbank Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception School.
