Offering them ways to easily comprehend subjects and topics, making subjects more enjoyable. I will try my very hardest to ensure my students feel that they are able to openly express their thoughts and to answer questions without the fear of judgement. I want my students to learn from their mistakes, and not be afraid to pick themselves back up…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them figure out how to learn in many different ways, thus setting them up for a lifetime of learning. It is also important for a tutor to encourage their student to improve and to celebrate these improvements. My main strength as a tutor is patience with struggling or distracted…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student in my opinion is to give them guidance on how to be successful in the subject we tutor. At the end of the day we only see them once or twice a week. We can't teach them everything. So it is important that we guide them on how to learn and study in order to be successful. Myt strength lies…

We have had great improvement with Samuel from the very first lesson. He has changed my son Thomas's attitude and application to his studies. Thank you SAM.

Inside TerrigalTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Olivia tackled area of rectangles and triangles, including breaking down complex shapes into simpler parts to calculate total area.

Year 7 Zac worked through operations with fractions—adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing—as well as understanding mixed and improper fractions in word problems.

For Year 10, Sarah focused on algebraic skills by practicing factorising and expanding expressions using a range of example problems.

Recent Challenges

Persistent issues with focus and reluctance to attempt set homework meant "it was difficult to get her back on track" and slowed progress through key concepts for a Year 8 student.

In Year 9, messy and scattered working in graphing tasks made errors harder to spot, with one tutor observing, "her working out was in three different parts of the page."

A senior student tackling HSC maths sometimes left numbers misaligned when setting out work, leading to calculation mistakes that interrupted problem-solving flow.

When attention drifted during lessons, basic operations took longer and foundational skills couldn't be consolidated.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Terrigal noticed that Olivia, a high school student, now independently applies area formulas to complex shapes and consistently writes out her working, after previously forgetting key steps.

In another session, Keeley—a senior—has moved from struggling with equations to manipulating them more confidently and can now identify gradient and y-intercept without prompting.

For a younger student, Charlie was reluctant to read higher-level stories at first but recently sat down to read several pages on his own after some encouragement. At the end of that lesson, he even picked up a book unprompted and read for a few minutes independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Erina Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Terrigal Public School.
