What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
That I am contributing in some way (however big or small) to this student having a more rewarding life and being a more valuable person to society. As a psychologist I understand that some of the biggest factors that impact on an individual's life outcomes and their ability to do good for other people are their ability to learn and their motivation to do so. I believe that tutoring can facilitate these by providing the tools for students to learn and helping to instill a degree of intellectual curiosity.My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My strengths lie in being able to identify the specific aspects of a problem that impairs the studentsβ ability to understand the totality of it. That is, when students have difficulty understanding a problem, I've noticed it's often just because they don't understand part of it. By breaking a problem up into its individual components, I can identify which specific components the student does not understand and then enhance their understanding of these to facilitate their overall understanding of the problem.Most important things I can do for a student π
To make sure that they are tutoring on a subject that they have genuine intellectual curiosity in. I think being curious in a subject naturally motivates the tutor to learn as much about it as possible. This provides the tutor with a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the subject that they can then pass on to the students with ease. I understand that there are numerous other important qualities, but ultimately the tutor will not be able to provide the best learning outcomes for the student if they lack the curiosity on a subject that affords a comprehensive understanding of it.Tutoring students in π¦ π§
