What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The chance to provide a new way of thinking and possibly provide a sense of excitement towards education. I am interested in giving a simplicity to learning that I believe is lost in a lot of teaching, and I find that it has learning benefits for me too as
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I know how to explain complex topics in a simplified way. I like to prescribe purpose to each teaching concept and showcase the ways in which the concept is used in society. I believe it is important to show the importance of each topic in the real world, rather than giving a blanket lesson on how to implement it.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Understand their way of learning, and adjusting to the student to accomodate them. I have had multiple experiences where my tutor would try to teach their method and force that method upon me. However, it is important to recognise the difference in the way different people learn, and not force upon a way of learning and hope that way of learning will eventually be adopted by the student.

Sherishan appeared to do better in this lesson than previously. He appeared noticeably more engaged by the topic, and seemed to be better at correcting himself when he made mistakes.
I was surprised by Sherishan's ability with fractions as he is able to quickly spin up answers to easier to medium level questions. However, Sherishan seemed to lack the ability to take a more deliberate approach to problem-solving instead of quickly returning the first answer that comes to his head.

Went through a tough previous exam question that summarises the topics from term 1. I am happy with Sachin's progression with the question, as I noticed he began to pick up on patterns that will appear in the final exam.
The content went through today's lesson is highly complex and while I am happy with where Sachin is at now, I am hoping he will continue to attempt the questions that were assigned to him.
A smooth lesson, topics were relatively new and by the end Sachin had understood them to a high degree.

No issues with understanding the material.
I was very happy with today's progress. Sherishan seemed more eager to learn and pushed himself further to really understand a topic that had been bugging him.

I have noticed that Sherishan has trouble with visual learning. In transformations, visual ability is crucial, and will be even more crucial as he progresses in his studies. This maybe a trait he picks up over time, but I think to speed up his progress, he may benefit from watching some videos about the topics he learns. Khan Academy would be a great place to start.
