What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Although I have not tutored much, I have spent a few hours teaching my friend how to play violin. What I enjoyed most about the experience was seeing her progress over those lessons. From the first lesson, she could not hold it properly but after my classes she could play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star confidently without any external help. It also helped me understand the fundamentals better when trying to explain them to her at a beginner level.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths are explaining the basics in easy to understand language for a beginners and noticing the small details or mistakes that people make which comes from experience. I was able to demonstrate that when explaining the idea of notes with a comparison to steps on stairs to notes on a scale. Furthermore, I was able to distinguish the notes that were in tune and the notes that weren't through my tremendous experience of playing violin for almost 9-10 years.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing for a tutor to do is understand the student's level and accommodate them. If the student is struggling with basic level tasks then it is better to start from the fundamentals and build on top of them and give them more encouragement if they start to feel nervous. Whereas, if the student was already very confident and wanted to learn further then it would be better to relate the more difficult content to the concepts that they are already familiar with.
