What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing kids or younger students that I tutored become so excited and passionate about learning, after gaining a better understanding of a topic they struggle with. From personal experience, being stuck on what feels like an impossible equation can be taxing on the brain. With help from an older figure who possesses the knowledge to surpass the learning obstacle, it makes figuring out the solution become easier and quicker, resulting in this rewarding feeling that inevitably makes learning more fun.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Adopting the 'teaching' (Learning about a topic and regurgitating the information as if one is teaching the topic) and 'active recall' study methods during my HSC, my ability to effectively communicate through teaching a subject (specifically mathematics) has become one of my greatest strengths. Furthermore, I am empathetic and understand the struggle of having difficulty comprehending a subject. As a result, I am patient and actively listen to their specific issue, adapting my teaching style to suit the students needs. This builds a more comfortable and effective learning environment.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Tutor's should prioritise the relationship between the student and their learning. To be consistently achieving learning goals and improving their overall knowledge, students have to a hold passion and love for their work. Its their tutor's job to build a space where the individual builds an interest and passion to learn. Therefore, working step by step, establishing short-term goals, adding fun educational activities and being an emotional support for the student is extremely important to actually allow the them to improve academically, while enjoying themselves.
