Meagan performed well in calculation questions with very few mistakes. Her graph making skill, important in AAS calculation question, fulfilled the majority of requirements for a good graph.
A challenging question was asked to test the depth of her understanding of both qualitative and quantitative analysis on inorganic substances. As mentioned in the previous lesson, there was a little bit of misconceptions and gaps in her knowledge. And we have established that qualitative analysis is great at detecting the presence of a substance while quantitative analysis such as AAS is great at determining precise quantities even in small concentrations.

Had remembered new content that was covered last lesson (How AAS works). Meagan was able to confidently explain how to answer collision theory related questions and thermodynamics questions that look at both entropy and enthalpy.
We could not come up with a good mnemonic for cation and anion tests. This is beneficial to memorise as it could be asked as a 6-8 mark short answer question. She was not comfortable with enthalpy of formation/neutralisation calculation questions however, after guidance of the required formulas she was able to achieve the correct answer. Overall, she will benefit from answering more past paper questions to be able to quickly determine the optimal formulas to use and this can be easily confirmed by looking at the solutions and marking criteria after she has attempted the questions. There is no need to do a full test and just cherry-picking the ones she feels least confident should suffice.
