What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing that "aha" moment when something finally clicks for someone. It's super rewarding to watch someone go from struggling with a concept to being able to understand each problem.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my biggest strengths as a tutor is my strong communication skills. I feel I am able to explain concepts clearly and adapt my approach based on each student's learning style.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient and adapt to their learning style. Everyone learns at their own pace and style, so it's essential to learn what it may be and utilise that.

What went well today was the Maths component of the session. Caitlin picked up skip counting and number patterns quickly. She had no trouble identifying the patterns and was able to continue the sequences with ease, showing strong understanding and confidence in the topic.
Caitlin needs some support with staying more engaged during English, as she wasn’t as focused today, even though it’s usually a subject she enjoys. Using words and activities that align more with her interests may help recapture her attention, especially when working on spelling.

Caitlin did really well in the Maths portion of today’s tutoring session. We focused on 2D shapes, identifying their names, counting the number of sides, and spotting features like parallel lines and angles. She was very confident throughout the activities and showed a strong understanding of the concepts without needing much assistance from me. She seemed to enjoy the topic, especially when we explored which shapes had parallel lines and different types of angles.
For English, we focused on spelling and words that start with the prefix "dis-". However, we only managed to get through 4–5 words, as Caitlin found this part of the session less engaging. Spelling can be challenging, and at first, she wasn’t very interested in the activity. That said, after she got a few of the words correct, her confidence grew and she started to participate more actively. While it was a slower start, it was encouraging to see her gradually become more involved. To help reinforce what we covered, the remaining “dis-” words she didn’t complete during the session have been set as homework. Caitlin was highly engaged, especially during the English activities. She required minimal help, only with a few harder-to-pronounce words, and was able to complete most of the tasks independently. In Maths, once she understood the main concept behind number patterns, she was able to work through the exercises on her own with confidence.
Caitlin needs support with focusing on more challenging Maths questions. She tends to rely on finger counting, so encouraging her to work things out mentally will help build confidence. With clear, step-by-step instructions, she was able to follow through, but continued practice with mental strategies would be beneficial.

Caitlin did very well in English today. She only needed a little help with a few bigger words, mainly sounding them out. When asked, she listened carefully and showed a strong eagerness to learn. She was engaged throughout the lesson and responded positively to the activities.
Caitlin sometimes needs support with listening and following along, especially at the beginning of new topics. She seems to benefit from a slightly slower pace at first to fully grasp the concept. However, once she understands the topic, she does very well. Her confidence and ability in maths are improving.
