What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
It's very fulfilling to see a student understand a concept after struggling with it for a while. It is like the last piece of a puzzle falls into place in front of your eyes and it is incredibly rewarding to be part of that process. I think that assisting learners in achieving their goals, one does more than just help them increase their confidence in the subject. As an educator, this also strengthens your own sense of fulfillment and helps you grow professionally and personally.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I think my strengths as a tutor is that I am very patient and understanding. Additionally, I have found that I am good at building a relationship where the students can be comfortable being wrong, and thus be in a good position to learn.
I also have a strong educational background with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Neuroscience. I am also currently undertaking a master's degree in Data Science at UNSW due to my interest in programming and statistics!
Most important things I can do for a student π
I think the most important thing may be to identify the individual needs of the student. During my work as an educational-psychological advisor, I used to write detailed reports outlining the student's strengths, learning style, and goals. When this was followed up, it made a very positive impact on the student's learning outcomes. I believe that it is important to remember that the students are individuals with different needs, and once you can identify these needs, they are much more likely to succeed.

Morgan had no issues remembering her plus/minus of fractions with unlike denominators. She also only needed a quick refresher on times/division of fractions, no issues.
Morgan is slightly slow when it comes to certain parts of her times tables (6, 7, 8). She is aware of this, and we will practice a little bit more - this is not a big problem.

Toren has seen great progress in addition/subtraction with decimals. She is starting to get the base 10 system in decimal addition/subtraction, which is great. She has also developed strategies that work for her, which we will continue to practice!
She still has some issues with her understanding of decimals, and we need to practice when doing calculations with varying amounts of decimals (i.e., 1.34 + 1.2). However, it is very important to state that Toren has seen very good progress here, and has become very good at finding strategies that work for her. We still need to repeat these strategies, but the progress is very good! For fractions, we need to repeat simplification and expansion.

Math: Charlie did very well this lesson, she was focused and interested and managed to do some 2 by 2 multiplications on her own using the area method by the end of the lesson English: Charlie does well when it comes to comprehension, nothing to note
Math: We need to work on her strategies, she has no issues learning the processes, but she forgets quickly if not repeated. this is normal, and we just need to work on consistent repetition English; She sometimes rushes through the text a little too quickly, and she therefore gets some questions wrong sometimes.
