What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy seeing students improve week to week! I find it a very rewarding aspect of the job and it makes it feel like it's not even work. I also enjoy finding ways to approach topics in a way that alleviates any stress or anxiety for students who are struggling - I like to see them face and overcome challenges with confidence and support.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My first and foremost strength is my ability to adapt my communication style to match the understanding of my student. I find often when a student is struggling with a class, they are struggling due to a communication breakdown. There are many diverse learning styles and communication styles a student has and a classical classroom cannot cater to every student in this way. I have the ability to quickly gauge and adapt to a student's style of communication and demonstrate concepts, especially mathematical concepts, in a spectrum of formats until we find a way together that clicks.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to listen to them and work with them, not at them. Tutoring for me is not just about regurgitating the same things as their classroom teacher, especially if it is a student who is struggling and the classroom approach is not working for them. I tutor in a way to make the student feel as if they are leading the way with my guidance, orienting them down the right path for them to understand the concept or topic. I want for them to leave a session with the confidence to approach the topic independently.
