What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing students grow in confidence and ability over time. It is very rewarding to watch a student understand something they previously found difficult and feel proud of themselves for achieving it. I also enjoy building positive relationships with students and creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions. Being able to encourage them and help them believe in their abilities makes tutoring meaningful to me. Another thing I enjoy is adapting my teaching style to suit each student’s needs. Every student learns differently, and I find it fulfilling to find approaches that work best for them. Overall, I enjoy knowing that I am making a positive difference in a student’s learning and confidence.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my main strengths as a tutor is adaptability. I understand that every student learns at a different pace and that not all teaching techniques work for everyone. Because of this, I tailor my teaching methods to suit each individual student, ensuring they get the most out of every session. Another strength I have is communication. I am able to explain complex ideas in a simple and clear way, which makes it easier for students to understand difficult concepts. I also make sure students feel comfortable asking questions if they are unsure about something.
Encouragement is another important strength I bring to tutoring. By being supportive and positive, I help students build confidence and develop a better attitude toward learning. When students feel encouraged, they are more motivated to try their best. I'm also comfortable working with children from diverse backgrounds, different age groups, and varying abilities, including students with different learning needs or disabilities. My experience volunteering at the Royal Children's Hospital has strengthened my patience, empathy, and ability to connect with a wide range of children. This allows me to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and understood.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing I can do for a student is help them develop important skills such as problem solving and critical thinking. These skills support their learning across all subjects and help them become more independent and confident learners. Building confidence is also essential. When students believe in their abilities, they are more willing to try, ask questions, and challenge themselves. By being encouraging and supportive, I can help them feel capable and motivated, even when tasks are difficult. Providing constructive feedback is another key responsibility. It helps students understand what they are doing well and what they can improve on. This allows them to recognise their progress and continue growing. It is also important to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where every student feels respected and supported. Through my experience volunteering at the Royal Children's Hospital, I have worked with children of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities, including those with different disabilities. This experience has strengthened my patience, understanding, and adaptability. I am able to adjust my teaching approach to meet each student’s individual needs, ensuring they feel valued, supported, and confident in their learning journey.

I think working on the worded problems more alongside learning how to add and minus quicker.
Went well when it came to writing timetables on paper and was quick. Adding and subtraction was good and knew some basic content.

When it comes to timetables from memory after just writing it on paper she tend to forget and found it hard and we re learnt things that she should have already known. She also confused with long additions carrying the one as it was like subtraction. I think she needs to improve with the numbers to come to her quickly and not pausing every time she needs to answer. She also ended up guessing a lot until she got the answer. She needs to build confidence and not doubt herself.

With subtraction, addition and timetable she excelled and knows a lot for a year 2. She learnt something new with long timetable , with 2 digits on top and 1 at the bottom at first was hard but learnt it very quickly after 3 equations.
Nothing needs improvement now but if she wants to learn her long timetable 2 digits on top and bottom she can as thats the only thing she found difficult during that session which I'm not too concerned about.
Knows his addition and subtraction. Times table is good until his 3 timetables.

Work on times table and be quicker with it. When it comes to marking each others work doubts himself if he has the correct answer and if I make my answer wrong he automatically thinks its right since I'm the tutor and doesn't find fault in it only his work. Needs more confidence in that area.
