What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
What I enjoy the most about tutoring is the opportunity to see growth and confidence in students. I love to help students achieve their best and inspire them on a personal and academic level. I used to be a teaching assistant for a science teacher at my high school and I recall that it was an amazing experience. Not only that I had the opportunity to help students and inspire them to pursue sciences post-secondary, but I also learned a lot from them as much as they learned from me. It brings me joy being to gain insights into their perspectives on the subject matter and about life.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I think my biggest strength is the ability to simplify complex concepts, a skill I developed while tutoring my neighbourโs children. I broke lessons down into smaller manageable parts and designed homework problems to reinforce previous concepts before introducing new ones. Patience and adaptability are other strengths of mine. I think each person has their own learning style so I always try to adjust my explanation and teaching to match their pace and preferences.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
The most important thing a tutor can do to a student is to inspire a love for learning and foster confidence. Instead of teaching students everything, from time to time, I try to spark their curiosity by introducing them a new concept and encourage them to explore more about it in their free time. I think teaching lessons is only one responsibility of a tutor. The more impactful responsibility is to inspire and to instill curiosity and habit of seeking knowledge.
