What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students reach their full potential and gain self-confidence. It is extremely rewarding to see a student understanding a concept they previously thought they had no hope of understanding. Watching as their confidence grows with each session makes tutoring very worthwhile to me. Furthermore, seeing the progress a student has made in real terms by achieving a higher grade than they thought was possible for them, is also incredibly rewarding. I would say one of my strengths as a tutor is my ability to adapt my teaching style and the resources I use depending on how each individual student learns. I work well with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), due to previous experience tutoring students with ADHD and/or Autism. I was able to adapt and change my tutoring approach for SEN students compared to my approach for other students. Additionally, I will often go the extra mile to make sure a student understands the work we are doing. Whether that is taking the time to explain a concept as many times as needed, or providinMost important things I can do for a student 🏅
I would say one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to show them the compassion and support they need to gain self-confidence and realise their full potential. In my previous tutoring groups, I would often have students who felt like they would never be good academically, and this was simply not true. All that had happened was people had not taken the time to go through work with them at a pace that suited them, and they were actually capable of much more than they thought.
