What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Although I have limited experience tutoring in an academic sense, I have recently come back from being a Summer Camp Counsellor in the United States. My position involved both everyday supervision and care for a bunk of ten boys aged 12 Years as well as 3 hours of swimming lessons for ages 6-12 Years. The swimming lessons, much like tutoring gave me the chance to teach, guide and refine the children's knowledge and ability in areas they themselves believed they were incapable of growing. My enjoyment comes in those "aha" moments where a culmination of missteps leads to a euphoric revelation.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Firstly, I have a passion for maths and science which I love to share with others. From reading Eddie Woo's 'Woo's Wonderful World of Mathematics', to watching every Veritasium youtube video, I love to indulge in the realm of STEM rather than just learning calculus and linear motion for the sake of it. Additionally, I believe my communication skills allow me to take advanced topics and and simplify them into succinct and easily digestible ways for beginners through to experts.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutors most important skill is listening. Every student is unique in where they excel and get stuck so, it is imperative that a students personal misunderstandings be understood and approached. Patience is also key as students vary in the speed in which the move from a position of confusion or unsureness to competency in a certain skill. Lastly, is the ability to in-still confidence. Often a students self-confidence is more important than any knowledge they can posses.
