Ability to relate and understand frustrations of students when they struggle with questions. Being thoroughly engaged and attentively listening to the students to better understand how I can best help them in their endeavours. Personal reflection and acceptance that I as the tutor will not know absolutely everything, and so my accountability to research and get back to students on any questions they may have which I can't initially answer. Accountability. Ensuring if you are unable to answer the student's questions initially, you take initiative to research and get back to them later on. Involve the student in their learning. Listen carefully to their opinions and incorporate it into how a study plan is formed, rather than the tutor making decisions for the student. Patience and the ability to be gentle in approaching the student if they are struggling to grasp a concept. Continue practising accuracy when expanding brackets (small sign errors can affect the whole answer). Be quicker at spotting factor pairs for harder quadratics. Work on writing restrictions clearly every time. Increase speed under timed conditions (40-minute test preparation). Practise multi-step algebraic fraction equations to build fluency. Work on word equations - practicing concept of breaking down the question into smaller parts to be able to answer the overall picture.
