What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
In my experience teaching and tutoring informally at my former high school, my favourite aspect is celebrating students' small successes as they learn new skills.
In particular, I love celebrating the gratification that comes as new and difficult concepts begin to 'click' to a student. In moments like these, I really enjoy being able to give back to an education system that helped me so much on my path to university.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I pride myself on my communication skills, and ability to tailor my use of verbal and non-verbal communciation cues to students' individual needs and methods of thinking, in order to ensure they come out of my sessions with a working understanding of difficult concepts. Often, this includes expaining things in more than one way so that students can gain a more holistic understanding of topics that both re-visits and builds upon classwork.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe that the most important aspect of one-on-one tutoring is being able to tailor teaching and communication methods to suit the specific individual student. Developing a dynamic teacher-student relationship allows a tutor to explain concepts in a way that both builds upon and fills in the gaps of students' existing knowledge.
