What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy watching the light and passion in students eyes glow and grow as they acquire new information and knowledge. Tutoring allows me to focus on students individually to allow compassion and witness their full potentials. Every small win is rewarding.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strength is the ability to shift and turn the information into content which is best understood and received by the student. This allows the students to fully grasp the content, hence, leaving no space for gaps or miscommunication or misunderstandings. I strive to be flexible and accomodate the different needs each individual student have.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient and make learning fun and exciting. Making the syllabus and content easy to understand and follow through.

Jade was able to practice plotting graphs using the formula y=mx+c, finding the gradient (m), rise over run, and the y-intercept (c) of numerous graphs. Jade also learnt what vertical and horizontal graphs looked like as a formula. After a few practices Jade was able to graph any type of graph taught in Math Standard 2 without any assistance.
Jade got the hang of graphs and how to plot graphs after a few practices and refreshers. To make sure she keeps this knowledge, keep practicing and solving questions on graphs and doing previous HSC exams under exam conditions.

Jade was able to solve the majority of the questions independently and only needed aid on the more complex and difficult looking questions. Once, Jade and I went through the questions she realised how simple they were and was able to apply her knowledge on the next complex question.
While jade worked on the questions I timed her and she was not able to complete the questions under the time limit. This is important as she heads into the HSC exams which are time sensitive. It is important to improve her skills and knowledge in mathematics but also her skills in working under pressure and time. This can be done by completing previous HSC papers under exam conditions. They are great practice for when Jade sits her HSC in a few weeks. Furthermore, I noticed Jade struggled on graphing. Few things to keep in mind: 1. Use a pencil and ruler when graphing. 2. Name x and y axis. 3. Have the same space between numbers on x and y axis, for example if x is going up by 1s then have 0,1,2,3,4… with the same space in between and if y is going up by 5s then have 0,5,10,15… with the same space in between. 4. Make sure to plot the right values. With these in mind Jade will be able to graph without a hassle.

Chapter 4- During this chapter Review Hannah was able to solve the problems independently. She got the majority of the questions correct and only made easily adjustable mistakes. Chapter 6- Hannah was able to answer the questions by herself with minimum to no aid from me correctly in a timely manner. She was able to remember main formulas and looked onto the formula sheet when unsure, this allows her to not make “silly mistakes” and use her time wisely which are crucial skills in exam standards.
Chapter 4- Hannah seemed to struggle the most with graphing in this session. Just remember to use a pen and rules. The x- axis is an independent variable and the y-axis is a dependent variable. Name both axes. Start from 0 on both x and y- axes. Have the same intervals you had on each axis, for example going up by 10 all the way through the y-axis and going up by 1 all the way through the x-axis. Otherwise, Hannah is golden in this chapter review. Chapter 6- Hannah needs to utilise pen on paper strategy to minimise the brain workload. Pen on paper allows Hannah to map out her process of solving the problem and ability to retrace her steps in the case she got the wrong answer. Furthermore, this allows her to put the correct digits and formulas in the calculator without mental math, which leads to lower brain power being unnecessarily used.

Hannah was able to answer most of the questions from the chapter review correctly. She answered questions in a timely manner, as time was another component we needed to work on before Hannah’s preliminary exam at the end of the term. Hannah solved the questions with minimum to no help from me.
Hannah has the knowledge and the formulas to solve any algebraic questions, however, it is when applying the knowledge to, for example, a 2-step algebraic equations or problems, which would be considered a complex equation, is what Hannah is struggling in. To improve, Hannah needs to practice more questions and think outside the box to figure her way of solving such problems.
