A strength I have is my patience because in the past I've been willing to wait for a child to give a go at a question before providing guidance. This skill is truly important because I want students to not only learn about maths or english, but also how to problem solve and think for themselves.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing is to be understanding because everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, it's necessary to work at the child's needed pace and to adjust the way I teach to meet the needs of the student. About Dakota
General Introduction
Hi, my name is Dakota and I'm currently a first year at Monash University doing a Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery. I have 2 cavoodle puppies at home and I also have 2 sisters who I'm very close to. My hobbies consist of singing and dancing which I've been doing since I was about 7. Additionally, I like small crafts and doing creative tasks like drawing and lego.
Tutor experience
My main tutoring tutoring experience is with my younger sister and my younger cousins in which I helped them with math and english work as well as NAPLAN preparation. Thus, I have a strength of connecting with younger children and patiently working with them. In addition, I previously did Kumon as well as Math and English tutoring throughout highschool so I know the struggles that can come with tutoring. Thus, through my own tutoring experience I have a strong understanding of the math fundementals and what's expected of students in their writing.
Personality
One of my strengths as a person is my patience as a person which I believe is a key skill required for tutoring and will enable myself to match students pace. Additionally, I'm easily to empathize with others which will help ensure that students feel comfortable and safe in my presence because I want my students to feel that I'm willing to answer their questions without judgement.
