What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
By far the biggest thing I enjoy about tutoring is seeing in the students' eyes when the penny drops, but moreover, when they realise the penny has dropped and the satisfaction and pride they feel for our combined efforts.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor are being able to use analogies, and breakdown concepts into much smaller, digestible pieces of information. I've never been the savant who understood concepts inside and out, immediately.
I had to work hard to fully understand the concepts, which means I had to come up with analogies and simpler perspectives. This means that I can pass on the same tactics that I used, but it also means I can relate to the student, and more importantly, the student can relate to me.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage the student in their studies. And I think the best way to encourage a student to enjoy learning, and to excel, is to make learning and performing well, fun. And to do that, I believe it's intrinsically finding learning fun yourself, whilst being a strong role model for the student. Add 2 and 2 together, the student will most likely admire the tutor for their role model like presence, and adopt their mindset for learning as a result. This is exactly why I think I make for a great tutor.
