What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I truly enjoy seeing the students I tutor develop confidence in themselves, beyond just developing an understanding of the subject I teach them. I believe steadily building confidence is crucial for students to learn and grow, as they feel more comfortable challenging their learning boundaries. I have first-hand experience and understanding of the challenges that come from learning subjects one is not confident in. But I can also vouch for how, through small steps, consistent effort and practice, one can turn their performance around. Every student deserves to achieve their best.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor are varied and stem from diverse experiences. I am confident in my communication and interpersonal skills, and as a tutor, this is undoubtedly key, as we want to develop a connection with our students to work effectively together. I believe it is crucial to empathise with the student and make them feel welcome and supported. This brings me to adaptability, another strength of mine that allows me to tailor my approach to students and the circumstances. I also reinforce my social and cultural awareness. I am also confident in my accountability and problem-solving skills.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe there are a few very important things that can be done for a student by a tutor to truly support their learning journey. First, create a learning space where they feel truly safe and valued. Second, you want to ensure that your student is genuinely supported and understanding the content. Remind them that mistakes are alright, and they should feel free to ask anything they do not understand. Furthermore, before beginning, understand what the student’s goals are, short-term and long-term. Next, prioritise detail and efficiency. Finally, never give misinformation - always double-check.
