What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy sharing my mathematics knowledge to help others succeed and become especially comfortable doing Mathematics. I also would like to provide insight and real - world applications with each topic they are doing.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I excel at breaking down complex mathematical and scientific concepts into clear, simple explanations. This also includes providing various ways a problem may be solved. I really like delving into the reasoning behind Mathematical concepts as I believe it is integral to be given such knowledge so to develop a strong proficiency in Mathematics.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Eventually get them to a level where they become self-sufficient and confident in their abilities to teach themselves as well as think for themselves. These are skills that will be required when going to university as often (in my experience) you cannot have the professor/tutor sit down with you and go through concepts you didn't comprehend. These skills will also be required in the workforce where taking the initiative to solve problems yourself is expected.

About Harold
Background
I enjoy helping students build confidence in maths and science by making tricky ideas simple to understand and approachable. I focus on creating a supportive environment where questions are encouraged, and progress feels achievable. Seeing students improve and believe in themselves is the most rewarding part of tutoring for me.
Real-World Problem Solving and Clear Communication
With hands-on experience supporting fellow students in maths and science during his studies, Harold has developed an approachable teaching style focused on clarity and patience. He excels at making difficult ideas accessible by connecting technical concepts to real-world scenarios—a skill sharpened through engineering projects involving algebra, statistics, calculus, and software tools like MATLAB. Parents can trust that Harold adapts explanations to suit each learner’s needs while maintaining a supportive environment.
Leadership Skills and Engaging Presence
Beyond his technical expertise, Harold stands out for his leadership abilities honed through a recognised intensive program and active participation in Toastmasters public speaking club. These experiences have equipped him with outstanding communication skills and the ability to foster inclusive learning spaces. Whether helping students build confidence or guiding them through exam preparation strategies, this tutor ensures lessons are both engaging and tailored for lasting understanding.

- Improving working out and presenting his solutions overall. - Is solving problems better; more methodically. - Had a great conversation with his mother and him and they recognise that Jed interest isn't in pursuing further/ more advance Mathematics in the HSC and that he would be better off doing General Mathematics. Judging so far that we are struggling to get through content in the Year 8 syllabus (We have only been able to cover 1 topic in 2 months) Jed recognises that Mathematics isn't his forte and he would be better off doing General Mathematics in the HSC; this is great because I was worried about how Jed would take this bad news but him and his mother have recognised this and it is a relief that we are on the same page.
- Albeit he is improving his working out; he still needs to be more methodical with his working out and needs to commit pen to paper more with his working out.
The student is eager to learn; He is recalling some past concepts which is a start. Jed needs to just continue doing more Mathematics on a consistent basis.

- The student needs to be more conscientious when setting out his solutions to problems. It needs to be more organised so that the marker can interpret and thus award marks easier to the answers the student provided. I had shown him in past lessons how to set out his solutions; hopefully the more times he gets used to setting out his solutions correctly it will develop into a habit. Moreover, Jed also needs to be more structured in his thinking; often Jed will immediately turn to a calculator to solve a problem. The issue with this is that 'doing' the solution on a calculator can make it difficult to transcribe the steps you took on the calculator onto a piece of paper. The marker cannot see your 'workings' on a calculator. You should always commit pen-to-paper first when writing out your solution (Even if the solution to procure is wrong initially); Then when you need to solve numerical calculation, you can use the calculator. This is something that Jed needs to develop.

The child is starting showed great improvement in terms of thinking for himself especially when it came to completing the current work he was doing in class. He also attempted the homework and showed a good effort in doing so. He also showed improvements in setting his work book out correctly per say putting the date in the top right corner of each page. Overall, Jed is showing a desire to continually improve on his Mathematics.
Needs to continually strive to set his work book out more; organising his solutions to the homework as well as show complete, structured working outs for each of the questions so that the marker can follow what he is saying.

Both the parent and child are onboard in regards to wanting to improve. Jed actively listened for the majority of the lesson and was talking outloud when trying to process and digest the content I was guiding him through. It was a pleasure teaching him. He is also onboard with seeing the teacher at least once a week to get further help with concepts he is having difficulty with whether that be current or past concepts. The mother is down to helping Jed with his homework. Overall he was extremely co-operative and was definitely trying understand the content presented to him.
Needs to improve his exam preparation technique by doing Mathematics consistently everyday for ~ 1 hour or even just 30 minutes of revision over what he went through in class instead of trying to cram a 7 hour session the day before the exam. He also needs to get into the practise of having the right equipment (protractor, rule, compass....) in his pencil case. He also needs to improve on "ruling" up his book and making his notes more organised so he can refer to them come time for exam revision. With this said, he was onboard with all of the above and was making good efforts to tidy up his workings and organising his notes during the lesson. Well done Jed.
