What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing students grow in confidence, moving from self-doubt to believing in their abilities. Many begin their journey feeling uncertain or even defeated by a subject, and the most rewarding moment for me is when they start to believe in themselves and approach challenges with determination rather than fear.
I focus on identifying the root of their struggles — whether it’s gaps in their foundation, unclear explanations, or low self-belief — and adapt my methods with patience. My experience, including supporting a student with dyslexia through visual aids and step-by-step strategies, has shown me that personalised teaching is essential to unlocking potential.
For me, tutoring is not about giving answers but about guiding students to discover their own abilities. I strive to create a supportive space where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from them. The greatest reward is watching students progress from struggling to succeeding, and carrying their newfound confidence and resilience beyond academics into other areas of life.
At the same time, tutoring helps me grow as well. It sharpens my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, strengthens my critical thinking, and pushes me to approach problems from different perspectives. In this way, tutoring not only empowers students but also deepens my development as an academic and researcher.
Seeing students go from struggling to succeeding is rewarding, and at the same time it develops me as a researcher, sharpening my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, think critically, and approach problems from different perspectives.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My greatest strength is helping students build confidence in themselves. Over the past 3+ years, I have tutored learners from primary school to university level, and I’ve seen first-hand how confidence transforms academic performance.
I adapt my methods to suit each student’s needs; whether that means breaking concepts into clear, step-by-step lessons, using visual aids, or practising problems together until the student feels secure. For example, I supported a student with dyslexia, and by personalising my approach with colour-coded notes and simplified strategies, I helped them not only improve academically but also believe in their own abilities.
I strongly believe that knowledge paired with empathy gives students the courage to ask questions, tackle challenges, and achieve results beyond what they imagined possible.
