What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I usually tutor math, and I love showing students a different perspective of math, as it is unfortunately not taught to the full extent of its beauty. I take great pride and joy in making the youth more knowledgeable (science and English), due to my values and understanding of critical thought.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am very good at simplifying concepts or making analogies and models applicable to real-life scenarios.
One example, which my student really liked, is that the explanation of area is essentially how many squares of a particular unit length can fit in that space. This was made clearer by cutting up pieces of paper.
Hands on activities form thicker neural connections and helps students consolidate the concepts better.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think as much as it has to do with academics, it has a lot to do with mental health and the overall well-being of the student, too. They don't necessarily have to tell a tutor anything; they just need to know that this is someone they could potentially confide in. This also helps boost academic progress.
And for a more technical aspect of teaching, pausing so the student can process information is vital. Rushing the thought process and not allowing them to picture or process things disrupts the consolidation of information.
