What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy tutoring the most when I see a change in student's confidence. Firstly, they come to me looking unsure and asking me for help, but after few hours in the same day, I enjoyed them solving problems fully focused with confidence, and even enjoying their process to solve questions. Additionally, when they proudly tell me they scored full marks or even big improvements, I feel very happy that I was able to support them. Being a tutor who can gain student's confidence is the most rewarding part for me.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

One of the biggest strengths as a tutor is that I always give my 100% and put every effort in every class for the student. I am a person who cannot do tasks halfway. When I teach, I will prepare throughly, stay focused in the class, and after the class, I will reflect myself how I can improve more to give clear explanations or better support for the students. I strongly care about student's growth, so I will bring my full responsibility and positive energy to every lesson. This will not only increase student's growth but also will let me a more reliable and motivated tutor.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important things as a tutor is avoid giving shortcuts to the students. If a student is struggling with a problem, I will let them think first, guide them with small things with only giving slight hints, and help them slowly reach to the answer themselves. Instead of just giving the formula or answers, I focus on helping them understand the foundation of the formula or the answer step-by-step. This approach will let the students gain deeper understanding of the concept, which will not only increase their confidence level, but also foster a positive impact in the long term perspective.

About Mai

Supportive Maths & Homework Help for Primary Students

Mai is a university commerce student who brings real care and energy to working with younger learners. Through her volunteer work tutoring primary school children, she has taught maths and supported students with a wide range of homework tasks. She breaks problems into clear, simple steps and checks understanding with gentle questions, not pressure. Parents can expect a patient tutor who helps children feel more confident with numbers and daily schoolwork, not just race through worksheets.

Volunteer Tutoring Experience with Young Children

In her volunteer role, this tutor worked closely with individual primary students, guiding them through maths exercises and explaining tricky concepts using everyday examples. She regularly helped children organise their homework, prioritise tasks, and stay focused, turning study time into a manageable routine. Mai also adapted explanations to different learning speeds, giving extra practice where needed. This hands-on experience means she understands common gaps in primary maths and how to build solid foundations.

Strong English Skills & Clear Communication

Mai’s strong English qualifications, including a high-level English proficiency certificate and an advanced speaking and writing score, mean she communicates clearly with both students and parents. She uses her communication and organisational skills to structure sessions with a clear plan and simple goals, then updates parents on progress in straightforward language. As an international business and management student, she brings a calm, respectful manner to every lesson, helping students feel comfortable asking questions and trying new challenges.
