What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy engaging with others. I am a naturally social person, and I do find a sense of fulfilment in teaching others. It is very rewarding to see a student successfully apply the concepts that you've taught them, and reap the benefits for the hard work they and you have put in. Communication is an essential skill.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I would say I am a very adaptable and understanding tutor. Each lesson I would have a lesson plan in mind, I would start with revision, then introduce a topic, give examples and then test their understanding. Being able to understand the student and their needs to then ensure that I can tailor each lesson to cover topics that they may find more challenging. Being adaptable will mean that I can change lesson plans as necessary to be more personal and thus more productive.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I consider the most important thing a tutor can do with a student is have patience. I think patience underlines all the critical aspects regarding tutoring. To engage effectively with a student, it has to happen naturally, it can't be forced. It does take a bit of time to understand what kind of teaching style a student will respond well to. Further, patience is important so that a student can feel comfortable communicating when they don't understand something. That way I can slow down the rate I teach things, to re-explain topics, or teach topics more in depth.

About Richard
Strong Maths Background with Proven Results
Richard is a university science student with a deep and thorough understanding of mathematics from primary levels through to senior high school. He has consistently achieved results in the top range, including high performance in advanced calculus at university and recognition in national maths competitions. This tutor is comfortable explaining everything from basic number skills to more abstract algebra and problem-solving, and he enjoys showing students the “why” behind the methods so they can tackle new questions with real confidence.
Real Teaching Experience and Clear Communication
Richard brings hands-on teaching experience from several roles where he has led and coached young people. As a long-term basketball coach for mixed junior teams, he learned how to adjust explanations for different ages and abilities while keeping sessions energetic and positive. In the cadet program he planned and delivered lessons for large groups, breaking complex ideas into simple steps and checking understanding in low-pressure ways. He has also tutored a family friend in Year 7 maths, giving him direct experience with school content and homework styles.
Motivating Mentor with Strong Leadership Skills
Parents can expect Richard to be organised, calm and encouraging. His time as a house captain and senior cadet leader means he is used to setting clear expectations, planning sessions and guiding students towards specific goals. He combines this structure with a friendly, down-to-earth manner that helps students feel comfortable asking questions. Whether a child needs to rebuild confidence, extend themselves, or prepare for assessments, this tutor works alongside them, using practical examples and steady encouragement to build both skills and self-belief.
