What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy helping others understand topics that seem difficult but once you break them down into smaller steps or think about it in another way, it all starts to make sense. Also, seeing the improvement and growth in students that can occur from your help. I remember while in highschool many of my peers would come to me for help and understanding of topics in math and science and I would try to do my best to explain it from the ground up with my thinking process. When they understood what I was explaining it made me feel happy that I can assist and motivate people through doing what I enjoy.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I only just graduated from highschool after completing the ATAR pathway and have a fresh perspective and vision of topics. I can provide a more relateable and unique learning experience because I am still young and can more closely understand students' perspectives and challenges. Even though I have no tutoring experience I believe that I have the potential to do well once I get the hang of things.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe the most important thing is firstly identifying where the student is with their understanding of a topic and then working in small steps from their based on the students' needs and style of learning. Then ensuring the student is challenged constantly in order for the 'learning' to occur and celebrating small wins to provide an enjoyable experience so that they are more motivated to keep going and boost confidence.

About Krishna
High-achieving maths and science role model
Krishna is a recent high school graduate who excelled in advanced Mathematics and Science, consistently achieving results in the top range across Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Selected for an Academic Enrichment Program, he understands what it takes to grasp challenging concepts and can break them down into simple, step-by-step explanations. As an aspiring aerospace engineer, he brings real-world problem-solving and logical thinking into lessons, helping students see how classroom maths and science connect to exciting future pathways.
Mentoring mindset built through leadership and cadet training
Through years in a structured cadet program, this tutor has developed strong discipline, organisation and communication skills, regularly working in teams and taking initiative in group tasks. Krishna is used to explaining procedures clearly to peers and supporting others to stay on track. This background means he brings calm guidance to sessions, helping students plan their study, manage time, and build confidence. He knows how to encourage hesitant learners while still setting clear expectations and goals.
Relatable tutor who connects learning to real interests
Krishnaβs interests in cricket, engineering, space and astronomy give him plenty of ways to make learning engaging for primary and high school students. He often uses sports scores, real flight paths or space missions to turn abstract maths problems into something students can picture. Having recently completed school himself, he remembers exactly where students get stuck and tailors examples to their level. This tutor creates a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and building genuine understanding.

Preston was able to understand all content quite quickly throughout the lesson even though we covered quite a bit. He did well finding areas and volumes of shapes and how to work with indice laws and surds.
Studying for an exam or a test a few more days before and doing a little bit every night so that he doesn't have to study everything the night before. We will work on this in future lessons.

Preston was engaged throughout the lesson and was able to expand brackets in algebraic equations and also solve for an unknown x. He managed to understand the two methods of solving simultaneous equations (elimination and substitution) and should be able to use both whenever required. Preston did really well in distance and midpoint questions and is one of his strengths.
I suggested working on balancing algebraic equations as he did struggle with this today and it is one of the foundations to other algebra topics in future. This led him to struggle with solving simultaneous equations, specifically solving for unknowns due to the same problem. I have told him to practice these topics covered as this is the best way to improve in maths.
