What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I haven't tutored in an official capacity. However, I am an Assistant Director & Section Leader of a women's chorus, which gives me frequent exposure to coaching/ teaching music. Additionally, I have 2 young children 6 & 9, and I love seeing them learn new things. What I enjoy most about teaching/ coaching is seeing or hearing an improvement, especially when you witness the 'lightbulb' moment and get to celebrate that. (Note: while I'm studying music, I have passed my LANTITE test, and when I completed Uniprep, I scored a 98% unit score).
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I like to try and have a few ways to explain concepts up my sleeve. Not everyone thinks the same way, and I think it's a strength that I can usually meet people where they're at, and guide them forward with a targeted approach. I know the importance of giving plenty of encouragement, and to provide scaffolding to help advance in small steps. I am generally a very patient person, who is quite able to be flexible. Finally, I am currently studying at WAAPA/ ECU in secondary education (Music Studies) meaning I am consistently improving my own pedagogy skills.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Help them learn in a way that means they can enjoy a subject. Its important to find a way to make study fun and validating for them which will help with their engagement. Scaffolding and helping them take small steps is important as this allows for a student to be successful 'most of the time', which develops confidence and validates the effort they're making. Additionally, to help them see the 'point' of why it's important they learn their subject and how it has context in the 'outside world'. Again, this can help further support engagement.

About Rebecca
Strong Academic Foundation in Maths and Humanities
Rebecca brings a powerful mix of mathematical and literacy skills to her tutoring. She achieved more than 90% in both Essential Mathematics and Humanities in her university preparation course, including the top result in Humanities in her cohort. Now studying Music Education at university, she understands how students learn and how to break concepts into clear, manageable steps. This tutor is well placed to support primary and high school students in strengthening core skills in Maths and English.
Future Teacher with a Calm, Structured Approach
As a Bachelor of Education (Music Studies) student, Rebecca is training to be a classroom teacher, learning practical strategies for explaining new ideas, managing different learning styles, and building students’ confidence. Her background in leading and organising in professional roles has sharpened her communication and time-management skills, which she brings into each lesson. Parents can expect sessions that are well planned, focused, and tailored to the student’s current level and goals.
Patient Communicator Who Makes Learning Relatable
Rebecca is used to working closely with people, listening carefully, and explaining complex information in simple terms. She uses real-life examples and students’ own interests—such as music, stories, or everyday problem-solving—to make Maths and English more engaging and less intimidating. She enjoys helping students who feel “stuck” find that turning point where things start to click. This tutor aims to build not just better grades, but genuine confidence and independence in learning.
