What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy helping students feel more confident in their academic abilities, and feeling that they are capable of growing and expanding their knowledge to do the best that they can. I also enjoy tutoring because it helps me brush up on my social skills, which will be important for future jobs during and after university.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

There are many strengths, however, my top three would be my ability to actively listen to what the student is communicating to me about what they need from me as their tutor. Another strength includes patience. I understand that every student is different and will learn and consume knowledge at different rates. Lastly, I feel that my communication skills are another strength, as I am able to communicate complex concepts and feedback to the student in a clear but also friendly way.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Creating a safe space or environment for the student, where they feel comfortable to speak and ask questions without any judgement. Teaching study skills is also important. I think tutoring is not so much teaching the subject but rather to help understand or support what is already known. It is not just for summarising but also to provide useful skills that can be used throughout university as well. Building trust is another important aspect because a student won't feel open to speak or comfortable if I, as a tutor, do not show interest and genuine care.
