What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy being able to pass on my knowledge and especially enjoy giving people that 'aha' moment when you can see that it clicks in their mind.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I think my patience is a great asset to my tutoring skills. My experience of currently still being engaged in the education system as a student also gives me great insight into what learning styles are most effective and it is easier for me to put myself into the shoes of the student.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I think being able to offer a variety of different teaching styles to cater to differing students is important. Being able to explain a topic in multiple ways is also incredibly important as not every student thinks the same way.

About Owen

High-achieving maths student with proven results

Owen is a high-performing Year 12 student who consistently achieves A-standard results in advanced Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, giving him a strong academic base for tutoring Maths at primary and high school levels. He has also been part of a winning team in a college-level maths relay, showing he can think quickly and clearly under pressure. This tutor understands current school expectations first-hand and can explain tricky concepts in a way that feels relatable and achievable for younger students.

Leadership and communication grounded in real responsibility

As a former Head Prefect, Owen has experience representing the student voice, organising events and coordinating teams of peers, all of which sharpen his communication and leadership skills. He is used to speaking with teachers, students and community members, so he can adapt his style to suit both children and parents. This background means he brings maturity, reliability and clear communication to every tutoring session, whether he is helping with homework or exam preparation.

Coaching mindset and engaging session style

Owen’s work as a youth soccer coach and assistant coach has given him hands-on experience motivating younger children, planning sessions and giving individual feedback. He is comfortable breaking skills into manageable steps and keeping students engaged through variety and encouragement. Outside the classroom he enjoys organised team sports and creative writing, interests he draws on to make examples and explanations more interesting. This tutor aims to build confidence as well as skills, helping students feel capable and prepared.
