What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Helping friends and peers build confidence as they grow their skill set. I love helping my peers in marine science build confidence in their coding skills and seeing a concept click for them, which improves the efficiency of their coding.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I was diagnosed with ADHD 5 years ago, and have learnt how to work around and with traditional methods and patterns of teaching. I see this as a strength, as it helps me understand which teaching style would best benefit the learner. Studying science, I know the importance of having a deep understanding of the subject matter, making content engaging, and promoting independent thinking when solving problems.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
As a university student with an ADHD diagnosis, I have learnt that it's important to learn in a way that is productive to myself, which may not benefit others in the same way. These methods involve breaking down and simplifying tasks to avoid over providing. Asking for consistent feedback to make sure I am on track and making sense of the content and feedback. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to foster a patient and encouraging environment.
