What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing my students finally understand a concept and watching them thrive because of it. Those moments make tutoring incredibly rewarding and remind me why I love helping others learn. I firmly believe that with the right approach, any subject can feel manageable.

My Strengths as Tutor šŸ’Ŗ

My strengths are patience, clear explanation, and strong subject knowledge. Because I started Year 11 (Preliminary) in Sydney with no background in the NSW curriculum, I understand what it feels like to build skills from the ground up with little guidance. This helps me break concepts into simple steps, identify where students are getting stuck, and teach in a way that makes sense to them. I’m also organised and structured, which helps students develop effective study habits.

Most important things I can do for a student šŸ…

Boost confidence by helping their students feel in control of their learning. Teach practical exam skills, such as showing them how to study, structuring their responses efficiently, sourcing and using past papers affectively since practice makes perfect.

About Lela

From New Curriculum Learner to Top-Ranking Student

Lela understands what it feels like to be challenged by a new curriculum, having started senior school with no prior knowledge of local requirements and quickly rising to the top of her cohort. She achieved Dux and ranked first in subjects including Mathematics Advanced, Economics and Business Studies, proving she not only grasps complex ideas but knows how to master them efficiently. This tutor now channels that experience into helping school students build confidence, strong foundations and smart study habits in Maths and English.

Exam-Focused Strategies and Clear Explanations

Drawing on her own success in high-level assessments, Lela teaches students how to break down tricky questions, plan written responses and avoid common exam traps. She uses worked examples, stepbystep breakdowns and simple checklists so students know exactly what markers are looking for. Having ranked at the top of her classes in multiple analytical and writing-based subjects, she is well placed to support students with problem solving in Maths and structuring responses in English, from short answers to extended pieces.

Relatable Role Model and School Leader

As a school vicecaptain, Lela led confidencebuilding workshops and helped launch a student magazine, showing she can connect with young people and motivate them to participate and speak up. This leadership experience shapes her tutoring style: sessions are interactive, encouraging students to explain their thinking and ask questions without feeling judged. Parents can expect a tutor who is organised, friendly and close enough in age to relate to current classroom pressures, while still modelling mature study routines and responsibility.
