What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I really enjoy seeing the satisfied look on a student's face once they grasp a personally challenging concept and begin to feel confident in their own skills to complete exercises and activities on their own.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My ability to break complex topics into easily understandable sections and frame them as simpler concepts helps students absorb information with ease. Additionally, I possess great knowledge in both maths and biology, with band 6s in both subjects, and an ATAR of 95.50, which I am eager to utilise with students to effectively strengthen and convey their present and future knowledge.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Positioning themselves from the student's point of view to explain concepts in a way that is easier to grasp, remaining open to feedback and new knowledge to continuously improve teaching mechanisms and students' learning experiences, and maintaining an authentic wish to help students achieve greater things throughout their learning in order to provide a genuine, effective, and enjoyable learning experience.

About Mariana

Friendly bilingual support for primary and early high school learners

Mariana is a warm, approachable Year 12 student who connects easily with younger learners, especially in primary and early high school. As a fluent speaker of both English and Spanish, she can support bilingual students or those learning English as an additional language, explaining ideas in clear, simple steps. This tutor understands what current schoolwork looks like and can relate to students’ challenges with homework, reading and basic maths, making sessions feel more like working with a patient older sister than a formal teacher.

Strong communication and patience from real-world experience

Through extensive customer-facing roles, Mariana has developed excellent communication, listening and patience—skills that translate directly into calm, focused tutoring sessions. She is used to explaining information clearly to people of all ages and checking they have understood, just as she would with a tricky maths problem or reading task. Her experience working in busy, fast-paced environments means she stays organised, keeps students on track, and can gently guide more distractible learners back to the task without stress.

Organised, reliable and adaptable to each student’s needs

Mariana brings strong time management and problem-solving skills, helping students break homework and assignments into manageable steps. She is highly adaptable, adjusting her explanations until they “click” for each child, and is happy to use examples from everyday life to make maths and English more relatable. This tutor takes pride in being reliable and prepared for each session, so parents can feel confident their child is supported by someone responsible, encouraging and genuinely invested in their progress.
