What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What drew to tutoring initially was helping students. I found tutoring very helpful personally as it provided some external support with learning to study properly and understanding my own weak points in certain subjects. In tutoring for the last 12 months I have most enjoyed seeing my students confidence building as they find it more enjoyable and easier to tackle subjects that they used to avoid.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor I find it important to prioritise putting my student first. I look more at how they learn and use their learning style to more effectively teach. Whether that be more visual, practical or relational learning.
I am also patient and understanding of students struggles and how they can work to overcome them.
Finally in having worked with different types of students I am adaptable to different levels and paces in understanding which allows me to help my students more effectively.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Listen. I find that listening to why the student might be struggling or what they have missed is the first and most important step to helping a student.
Secondly a tutor should be able to adapt. Wether that be to a different learning style or struggle and through tutoring be able to help them to understand how to study and progress in their subjects

About Elsie
Proven Results in Maths, English and Science Support
Elsie is a university student who has spent the past two years privately tutoring Years 7–10 in Maths, Science and English, with most of her students lifting their results from low C’s to solid A’s and B’s. She draws on her own strong high school background in advanced Maths and English to break tricky ideas into clear, manageable steps. This tutor focuses on building both understanding and confidence, so students feel prepared for class tests, assignments and exams.
Clear Communicator with a Love of Ideas
Studying Philosophy and International Relations, Elsie is trained to think critically, write clearly and argue logically—skills she brings straight into her lessons. She uses her experience from a university philosophy course to ask thoughtful questions that get students genuinely thinking, not just memorising. Her strong writing and verbal communication skills help students plan essays, structure arguments and express their ideas more fluently in English and Humanities subjects.
Creative, Engaging Sessions for Different Learning Styles
Beyond tutoring, Elsie has facilitated creative workshops for children using recycled materials and helped run community events, giving her real experience engaging young people in fun, hands-on ways. She adapts her approach for each student—whether that means using visual aids, real-world examples or stepbystep practice. With experience in both leadership and community projects, this tutor creates a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking on new challenges.
